About Brian and Karen
Brian Scott was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1958. He is a Business graduate of St. Clair College in Windsor with a major in Human Resources. Although from 1979 to 2003 he worked in the Electrical Wholesale Distribution business, his passion has always been photography. In 1989 he decided to turn this passion which started with a Brownie Fiesta Medium Format camera given to him at the age of 10, into a part-time business and now, into a full-time career. Self taught, Brian developed his skills by reading books, watching videos, listening to and observing other photographers, asking many questions, practical experience, and of course learning from his own mistakes. Now, together with the addition of this website, word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied customers, and networking his business continues to grow and diversify every day.
Although Brian's unique approach makes him a specialist in weddings, his work also includes family portraits, model/personal/business portfolios, sports, commercial, freelance photography, and much more. Through his work with software such as Photoshop, he now can alter, restore, edit, or enhance photos through digital imaging.
Brian is a perfectionist who takes his customers' satisfaction very personally. He credits his success to a commitment to continuous quality improvement, a positive attitude, effective marketing strategies, diversification, and to his wife Karen for her full support in his decision to take the risky, yet exciting path of self-employment as a full-time professional photographer. She accompanies Brian on many of his shoots and works as his assistant at as many weddings as she can attend. However, Karen doesn't just hand Brian batteries or the proper lens when he needs it. During weddings, she has been known to do everything from pin a boutonniere on a groomsmen's tuxedo to sew a button back on a bride's dress. She makes sure the bride's dress is properly placed and often adds a ladies touch to pose suggestions. During boudoir shoots, Karen does most of the set-up work, allowing the model to feel much more comfortable than they would with only a male photographer present. She takes an active role in business development and decisions affecting Scott Photography and her passion for her work equals Brian's. If you look at the testimonial section of this site, Karen's name is very deservedly mentioned several times.
